My first tattoo. Got it on 1/1/11, the first day of the New Year.
It is lyrics from the song, “Eating Me Alive” by Alkaline Trio.
The words link up to the idea that people dear to me stick onto me. In a way they become voices in my head, like a love song.

My birds was the first tattoo I ever got. Three Little Birds - Bob Marley; That song just always makes me feel better. Always. And birds are my favorite animals. So beautiful, so free.
My second one was the quote from “Where The Wild Things Are” I used to be obsessed with that book when I was little. And I do believe what it says, inside all of us is a wild thing. :)
My brother and I were not raised as most would call “properly”. We have videos of the two of us under the age of 6 dancing the entire Time Warp and singing all the words. To this day Rocky Horror Picture Show has a lot of warm memories for us. When I was 8 I was Magenta for halloween, he was Riff Raff. And when I was 11 I was Columbia. So randomly last night we were skyping and talking about getting matching tattoos (we’re insanely close) and he suggested a RHPS tattoo. He live in Long Beach, and myself in San Francisco, so today we got matching tattoos from a distance. I think it’s perfect. The line reads, “I would like if I may, to take you on a strange journey”. It’s the first thing the criminologist says at the beginning of the movie.
my newest tattoo, a few hours after it was done by Keo at the Basement Tattoo Shop. the lyric is from a Cat Power song and serves as a constant reminder.
Finally decided to go for it and get my first tattoo :)
The whale represents the part of me that is happy and affectionate, reminding me not to worry too much and enjoy the beauty that is life. I’m considering adding wings when I get to a point in my life where I’ve really figured things out (if such a time ever comes!).

The ring finger is that one finger that has the vein that goes straight to the heart. Therefore it symbolizes love, which is why that spot has a meaning. Second, I don’t wear my heart on my sleeve I wear it on my finger because I’m a writer, therefore my emotions are in writing.
And now we all have something to keep us together.
